We are very excited to announce that one of the pioneers of MSK Ultrasound, Stephen Bird, will be coming to our training facility for two seperate masterclasses!

This is a rare opportunity to learn from Stephen Bird, one of the world’s most renowned sonographers, Stephen brings over 30 years of clinical experience in both musculoskeletal and general ultrasound. His profound anatomical knowledge, exceptional understanding of pathology, and unparalleled ability to correlate pathology on ultrasound make his teachings invaluable. This masterclass promises to be an unmissable event for ultrasound professionals.

Target group

This course is aimed at the more experienced clinicians and sonographers, though for beginners there will be lots to pick up from his lectures and demonstrations. 

Objectives 

The goal of this course is to broaden your knowledge of sono-anatomy, pathology, scanning skills and clinical reasoning around your scanning. 

Contents 

To optimize our limited time with Stephen we decided to take out the hands-on sessions. Stephen will discuss several topics and combine them with live demonstrations.

MSK Pathology Principles
This lecture is compulsory viewing for anyone performing MSK ultrasound. It explores a comprehensive range of pathological conditions that are encountered in MSK ultrasound examinations.

Morning Break

11:15 – 11:45
Long head of biceps assessment including the rotator cuff interval
In terms of diagnostic output it is the most important tendon in shoulder assessment providing clues about many pathological conditions.

11:45 – 12:15
Subscapularis assessment with a key focus on how to diagnose superior fibre tears
Coraco-acromial ligament assessment and other soft tissue attachment to the coracoid process.

Live scanning

Lunch

Supraspinatus assessment, including the use of Doppler to increase diagnostic output
Correct grading and descriptions of supraspinatus tears. Dynamic assessment of impingement.

Infraspinatus, teres minor, glenohumeral joint capsule and AC joint dynamic assessment

Denervation patterns in the shoulder
Sonographic assessment of adhesive capsulitis

Didactic approach and course materials

The course consists of lectures and live demonstrations. To optimize our limited time with Stephen there will be no hands-on sessions. 
The course materials will not be shared in print of PDF since these are the intellectual property of Stephen.
